Pastillas de Leche

1 1/2 cups fresh or
evaporated milk
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon butter
5 tablespoons full-cream
powdered milk
sugar for rolling

1 Combine milk and sugar in a saucepan; bring to a boil and stir constantly until it turns into a paste. Add butter and powdered milk. Mix thoroughly.

2 Take the pan off the heat and transfer mixture to a separate bowl. Set aside until pastillas are cool enough to touch but still warm. Divide pastillas into 20 pieces and roll into small cylinders.

3 Roll lightly in sugar. Wrap in paper by placing in the center of a square, rolling it into a cylinder, and tucking the ends into the roll.

Makes about 20 pastillas


LECHE FLAN


Ingredients:
10 piece egg yolks
1 can condensed milk
1 can evaporated milk
1 tsp vanilla extract (powder)
For the caramel
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water


Directions:

  • In a saucepan, mix the sugar & water. Bring to a boil for a few minutes until the sugar caramelize.
  • Pour the caramelized sugar into aluminum moulds
  • Set aside
  • Place the egg yolks in a big bowl then mix gently using a fork or an egg beater
  • Add the vanilla extract
  • Add the condensed milk and mix thoroughly
  • Pour-in the evaporated milk and mix well
  • Pour the egg yolk and milk mixture on the mould
  • Cover the top of the mould using an Aluminum foil
  • Steam the mold with egg and milk mixture for 1 hour.
  • After steaming, let the temperature cool down then refrigerate
  • Serve during dessert. Enjoy!
